LSURAD Alumni Association

Message from the President
Welcome to the LSURAD Alumni Association web page! Thank you to
all who have made a tax deductible contribution to the association,
and to those who have shared their time and expertise in preparing
our residents for their oral boards. This means so much to us. Your
monetary contributions have purchased the Brant & Helms texts
for the incoming first years, offset the cost of AFIP room and
board, honored the Alumni Resident of the Year with an award
(including a book allowance), and covered miscellaneous expenses
such as newsletter printing costs.
I would like for you all to know that this is your alumni
association. Each alumnus/a is a valued member of the LSURAD
family, and your input is greatly appreciated. Please keep in
touch, and know that you are always welcome at LSURAD whether
it’s for a personal visit with familiar friends and faculty
or as a guest speaker/teacher. We would be delighted to introduce
you to new staff and give you a tour of the department. My email
address is tgates@lsuhsc.edu and my work number is (318) 675-6247
or 6225. If you know of alumni that are not receiving the
newsletter, please forward their names and addresses. Click on the
newsletter button above to download the latest newsletter.
.
I look forward to hearing from our alumni and would love to have
a reunion at some point in the near future. I wish you all the very
best in your personal and professional endeavors. If there is
anything that I can do for you, please let me know.
Sincerely,

Thomas R. Gates, MD (Class of 1993)
Associate Professor of Radiology
President, LSURAD Alumni Association

Message from the Department Chairman
I take the opportunity of the inauguration of the LSURAD Alumni
Association webpage to thank and express my recognition to all
LSURAD Alumni and Tom, the President of the Association. The Alumni
presence in our organization has tremendous meaning. All of you are
the vivid legacy of what we are expected to do; that is to
contribute to the growth and development of each of our residents
for them to become well trained radiologists and individuals with
professional integrity. The solid foundation of knowledge gained
during the four years spent with us is the base upon which your
radiological experience was and is built upon by each of you.
I am especially appreciative of those of you who generously
support our educational program and so thankful for those who come
to Shreveport to teach oral boards review. Your financial and
personal support results in the excellent ABR pass rate of our
residents and the academic productivity of LSURAD. In our last
academic period, we gave 292 conferences (113 CME accredited), had
56 publications and 13 IRB projects.
Thank ya’ll for what you do for your radiology alma mater.
Remember that you are always welcome to come and visit anytime, to
interact with our staff and see what has happened since you
left.
Gratefully yours,

Horacio D'Agostino, MD
Professor and Chairman
LSUHSC-S Department of Radiology
